Sean Marszalek, Founder and CEO
Early on as a fitness trainer, Sean understood that what you put into your body was just as important as how you physically trained your body. Achieving personal fitness goals and maintaining an active lifestyle demanded proper nutrition. His extensive research on the Glycemic Index convinced him that most commercially sold supplements were cutting corners and misleading the public with health claims. Not one to simply go along with the status quo, Sean made a game-changing decision. If no one offered a naturally pure supplement he could endorse for his clients, he would create one himself.
Devenee Schumacher, Founder and CFO
Devenee comes to the world of protein supplements through the kitchen entrance. An executive chef with a zeal for cooking, she graduated from the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts in 2001. Devenee has been a fish monger, butcher, business woman and devoted mother, but promoting the benefits of a low-glycemic lifestyle has become her life calling. Her personal goal: to help fight childhood obesity and slow the epidemic of diabetes that affect so many people today. This passion led her to help create protein supplements that were not only superior in quality, but also naturally delicious.
George Roberson II, Director Business Development
As a young athlete, George excelled at track, volleyball and basketball. But it wasn't until he began taking fitness education and nutrition seriously did he develop into a premier prep star, eventually earning a basketball scholarship to the University of Vermont. There, he studied performance art as well as biology and exercise physiology.
After working several years for a major fitness establishment, George opened his own business, G.E.M. Fitness Productions. He is a certified Nutritional Counselor and Prenatal Postpartum Specialist, and has received additional certification from the American Council on Exercise and National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Mary Jo Mahoney, Personnel and Events Coordinator
A retail and consumer goods veteran, Mary Jo has made an indelible mark for herself in the natural products industry. She started her career as a retail store manager for GNC. From there, Mary Jo expanded her horizons as a territory sales rep for a Midwest brokerage company, eventually landing Regional and National Sales Manager positions for manufacturers including Celestial Seasonings and Avalon Natural Products. In addition to working with SDC nutrition, she continues to operate Line Growth Sales & Marketing, a consulting service for emerging natural product companies. Mary Jo balances her busy business schedule with a daily passion for health and fitness, with an occasional 10K or half marathon thrown in for fun.
